Brian Jacques and Redwall
Jacques grew up in the tough neighborhoods around the docks in Liverpool. The hard environment, combined with his taste for adventure stories written by such masters as H. Rider Haggard, Rafael Sabatini and Robert Louis Stevenson, fired his imagination. He is best known for his Redwall series, which begins with Matthias, a young mouse who resides in Redwall Abbey.
